Convert Center is a web-based measurement conversion software that enables the users to convert from between over 1,000 different measurement units of Area, Acceleration, Angles, Circular, Circular Area, dbh (Forestry), Energy/Work, Flow, Force, Length, Power, Pressure/Stress, Temperature, Time, Velocity, Volume, and Weight/Mass.
Pros: Convert Center has brought out something that is useful to engineers, researchers, scientists, professors and students: a handy, detailed unit conversion tool that encompasses conversions of various hundreds of the existing, long-lost, regional and even obsolete metric units of area, angle, acceleration, computers, density, speed, temperature and weight. Apart from these regional units it also allows conversions of ancient units like fathom, legua (Spanish, pre- and post- 1568) to name a few, into modern SI and CG units of meter and centimeter and vice-versa. Convert Center also contains data about survey-specific metric units like US Survey standards, British Survey standards and so on. Last but not the least; this well tailored software doesn’t forget the units like light years, astronomical units, microns and even nanometer to please the scientist fraternity. Provides a browser based interface. ‘Value’ textbox allows inserting required numerical figure and ‘Result’ textbox displays the desired conversion of the ‘From’ and ‘To’ selected units in the checklists on top. This software is several times worth its on-disk size of 1.31 MB.
Cons: May not work if firewall has been turned-ON. Being web-based it takes a few seconds to refresh a page.
Overall: A good utility tool that boosts the entire computing experience. This is a simple and useful application and is rated at 5 stars.
